Stress is the feeling of being under too much mental, emotional or physical pressure whether the pressure is actual or imagined.  Different people have different ways of reacting to stress, so a situation that feels stressful to one person may in fact be motivating to another.  Some stress is beneficial in our lives as it can help us with our drive and performance.  


At times in our lives we can feel under stress trying to manage all the  demands made on us from our jobs, studies, relationships, families, health and finances.  On top of this, when we are faced with difficult life events such as a bereavement, redundancy, relationship(s) breakdown or even supposedly happy life events such as Christmas, going on holiday, moving house, getting married, having a baby etc – we can feel overwhelmed, down in the dumps, that we are not coping very well at all and are in need of some help and support.


When we feel stressed it can affect us in every way.  It affects the way that we feel, how we think, how we behave and how our bodies work.  In fact, stress can affect just about everything that we do and impact on the people around us.
